Overview

Lobby for Doctor SpringmanBanks of humming lights, stark white walls, endless rows of bland cubicles, the click clack of shoes echoing off the VCT and acres of dreary gray carpet tile are all giving way to open, collaborative, inviting spaces that foster teamwork and creativity. Lobbies and waiting areas are still grand, but need to speak to all who enter them.  They should tell the story of who you are, what you do, and why anyone would want to partner with your business.  These considerations present new challenges to the designer as we need to identify the needs of the occupants, the corporate culture, and the desired end result of the design.  Use of multiple colors, textures and finishes can help define space reducing the need for barriers.  Alternative finishes like polished concrete and resinous systems can create low maintenance, unique lobby spaces.
